...Relax

I may have ran
Out of words, today
When a sign out of nowhere
Said, "Psst! This way."

When I turned down the road
I saw my soul fully bared
and that you'd seen it all
for I'd been brave
and all of me I had shared

With might I once spoke
and demanded your ear
I would talk on incessantly
...for hours, I fear

But a calm's now inside
and around
and beyond
A new peaceful retreat
Of this I am fond

Far away are the days
of hateful outbursts
of pettiness
of worries
of racing with words to be first

The "I'm sorries" now forgiveness
All contempt washed away
I'm surrounded by peace
in a meadowy 'scape
and even hear a few, "Hip! Hip! Hoorays!"

What's next?
Lucky for me, it's already written

The stage has been set
We are both well-rehearsed
Shall I take a seat here?
Shall I take a seat there?
How much praise will this play get?

Though there's no program
to name all the acts
the players will know
to enter the stage
or relax

...and so shall I stay here and
                        ....relax
