Bartender! Mix Me a "Construction Company and Family." Dirty, and On the Rocks

I'm looking forward to seeing you on the 10th and visiting about how things developed while he was here.  He is actually staying until tomorrow sometime, and the things he has shared about his perception of events combined with your story of how things developed is causing me pause to reflect and ask for your clarification.  If, indeed, my rendition is true, having family, the court, and the public on the exact same page regarding how he lost his partnership will be delightful.

We will be setting aside the drug addiction the time being; after all, I am just the crazy ex bitch who made it up to make him look bad anyway, right?   For the sake of focusing on the facts of how things progressed, I will summarize the probable series of events as if drug use did not have any bearing on the destruction of a family business, and a family.  That is what you insist is the truth, so I will let you have your truth.  Drugs are an excuse, it is a bullshit copout, and, I, likely, fabricated it all.

So, this is what I understand from combining what you told me and what he's told me:

You observed a trend over the last year in his performance indicating he was disinterested and unfocused.  You felt his lack of focus and failing presence had cost the company money on more than one occasion.  This is a valid observation - I will explain Pete's experiences that brought him to the point that he DID become disinterested and unfocused - but that is a different blog, soon to be created.  You stated any good he had done was undone by his behavior in the last two months of his employ.  (Jesus, I'm glad two months of my life don't hold that much weight with my family!  They actually see my entire life as the trend to focus on.)

You were informed that there was an issue with a specific job, and it was implied that he was either ignoring the issue or not giving it the credit or attention the customer felt it needed.  Important note: the customer was your best friend who had no credit in him caused by decades of you expressing to said friend what a disappointment he has been to you his entire life.  To quote you, as you spoke to him, "You have been a disappointment to me you're entire life!"  That sentiment was obvious to everyone around you, and he was treated by his peers and others accordingly.

Though you stated to me that you did not want to get involved, you said you felt forced to because of being contacted repeatedly, and the because of the close friendship between you and the customer of this particular job.  Thus, you claimed to have gone to the job site, inspected the reported issue, and decided it was detrimental and irreparable. The past year's diminishing passion in him, the last two months of almost no ability to reach him on his phone and his extreme lack of time at the office, combined with this particular issue led you to this conclusion, "He has to go."

You asked him to come to the office on a Sunday evening to try to get to the bottom of what was going on with the job.  During this meeting, (I'm assuming you were confrontational/angry/upset - as I don't know you are able to speak to him in any other manner.) Pete, out of natural human response to accusations and, yet, further displays of complete disappointment from his father, reacted with anger.  How shocking (*rolls eyes sarcastically). Aside from the conflicting relationship issues between the two of you that goes back to his childhood (he just never measured up to your expectations - you're a piece of shit, by the way), he also believed the issue with the job that broke the camels back was easily repairable, and that he had a decent handle on the situation.  Your best friend, perhaps, enjoys calling you to complain about the disappointment and black sheep of your family.  I'm sure it's a good laugh for you both.

So, surprise, surprise!  He became furious.  From my experience as an employee, this is not the first time discussions with him led to a discussion of buying him out, him quitting, blah, blah, blah.  As his father, you continually took advantage of his defense mechanism of giving up when his frustration level gets high enough.  Amazing how genes work.  Ever comprehend that you have a tendency to behave similarly?  According to your story, it was a combination of your observations of a trend in his falling interest and participation, your belief that the job was not fixable, and his reaction that led you to a knee-jerk reaction to offer to buy his shares for $1 million. In other words, once again, son, you have failed me and I am rejecting you.

Throughout the angry exchange - which you are both very good at bringing out in one another - he confusedly concluded that you, a non-decision making, non-share holding nobody, and the two actual partners that have any say or shares had already met and decided to remove him as an owner and partner.  He started to fear and understand that this meeting was a actually a pre calculated first step to telling him he was being voted out. His mind was spinning and the thought that you met behind his back, you conspired to remove him, you developed a plan to try to offer a buy out to avoid the forced buy-out, and not his father or his brother has the decency to have an actual conversation with him about any of the concerns before-hand?  I dare say, his outrage, outbursts, accusations, and devastating pain which caused those reactions are not only valid, but you are all disgusting human beings for not even giving him the decency to admit it was wrong and apologize.

To be VERY CLEAR: The beginning of your son's downward spiral and the presumed irreparable damage done within your family began with his (now validated) belief you all chose to remove him without having the consideration of, first, treating him like a human being that obviously was in need of genuine concern, and, treating him, your own son, his brother's brother, worse than you would a stranger or a common laborer.  He is correct.  Neither you nor his brother would have ever treated anyone else in the world the way you treated and continue to treat him.

The betrayal from the brother is, yet, another blog.  But I will say this, his brother spent three months in the depths of depression and prescription drugs, and he complained not once to the other managers/partners.  He actually spoke to his brother and expressed to him what was being observed and what needed to be done to fix it before the other managers started to become involved. And that favor was returned by his brother in a manner I can only explain in a very cruel, truthful blog that is soon to come.

And here's some shit!  Get this, readers, family of the dysfunction, former employees, friends and enemies to the black sheep son, did you know that his own father spoke these exact words to him at this meeting and buy out offer?: "You have been nothing but a disappointment to me your entire life." As well as, "You've never done anything positive to profit this company." As a former employee who held an integral position is seeing all aspects of the interpersonal relationships and the one who kept track of who managed which jobs, the fact is, he poured his life into that company...until...well, that's another blog I have mentioned already.  Here's some more awful shit for him to endure from his own mother!  In one of her visits to his home after the forced removal of him as a partner she tells him, "You never did anything to earn your money, anyway.  Easy come, easy go."  I wish I could express something here.  But I think you can all come to that emotion on your own.

Moving forward to the following day (Monday morning), he called his brother and informed him that you had met and offered to buy him out.  Brian's response was, "Well, will that floor work?" (Reference to the job I've mentioned, accusationally presented, and in a pretentious in tone, no doubt.)  Pete responded with "fuck you, blah, blah, blah." Brian responded with, "Well, we talked about it and decided to remove you as a partner."  This conversation clarified to Pete what he had suspected, and it solidified in him that his own family, his brother he believed to be his friend, his father he referred to happily as his buddy, had thought so little of him that he was not granted any type of real conversation about how and why things seemed to be deteriorating with his interest in his position at his own company.

Oddly enough, and apparently implied intentionally, what I understood from you during our once very appreciated and unbelievably enlightening conversation, is that your son had not actually been voted out, yet, and that voting him out had not even been seriously discussed.  You led me to understand that your offer to buy him out was a spur of the moment decision and an independent event from the forced buy out that you claim happened after your meeting with him.

Every communication between Pete and his brother from that point on was explosive, chaotic, and (in my opinion) ridiculously immature and extremely unprofessional.  The joys of working with family, I suppose.  His brother allowed him to continue to believe he had already been removed as a partner, and refused to give him any valid or solid reasons the why the decision was made or when it was made.  He told Pete that he, his own brother, was the one who told you, his own father, to offer to buy him out as a sympathy offer and a last ditch effort to avoid utilizing the partnership clause.

Let us all take pause here.  The above events really happened to a human being by his own flesh and blood.  Just wait until you read the blog about how my love lost his focus and passion!  Paints an even prettier picture of this family and how they forge ahead with aggression and unforgiving judgments.  I'm beyond thankful that my dearest, my son's father, and my love did not commit suicide.  Or homicide for that matter!  What a bunch of fucking ASSHOLES!

As things progressed out of control and as the confusion over the entire matter increased, it was decided that the company would utilize the partnership forced-buyout clause to dissolve the matter, and then they had to scramble for valid reasons for his removal so that the partnership clause would be able to be utilized.  Though there is validity to the reasons they developed, none of those pieces of evidence were known until after he was removed.  Therefore, their entire case against him is a fabricated reality of why he was truly voted out.

My love wasn't even given the cause of his removal for three months.  It took the partners that long to come up with a solid enough lie to move forward with the clause that does not allow my love his entitled buy out - the actual value of his shares. I am not saying the events they are attempting to utilize are untrue, and I am not saying that the reasons do not justify him being removed as a partner. I am saying that that is not what really happened, which makes it a lie, which makes it wrong.  From the mouth of his own mother, "Well, no one was even sure that there was a drug problem involved!"  Nice.  Way to validate what a piece of shit your entire family is.

You have stated that you are not part of the arbitration proceedings, and are unaware of any of the legalities or offers, or any of the true and actual communications between your sons who were once friends and business partners.  I will as my readers to come to their own conclusion on the validity or truth to that.

After the reality of how the removal of my dear friend and lover from his own company actually occurred is able to be spelled out accurately from all parties truthfully...well...let's be real.  You mother fucking arrogant pieces of shit will never ever admit that what you've done is the most horrible thing you could have possibly done to your own son/brother.
